Great Bali Trail ~ Stage 20
Hike Agung’s highlands Sebudi to SibetanAt a Glance
Highlights
One of Bali’s most remote highland treks, descending 1000m through Agung’s lava gorges and Sebudi Community Forest, to the arabic coffee farms also famous for Indonesia’s sweetest Salak snake-fruit, all the way down to the padi fields of Sibetan.
A highlight of GBT Stage 20 is Bukit Cemara, a unique hill feature with a stunning viewpoint looking back at Agung and the route you have travelled, and across the whole of south east Bali.
Stage 20 starts high on Agung’s volcanic slopes and traverses the wild ridges of Sebudi Community Forest (Hutan Desa Sebudi), which serves an important highland conservation function and is managed by the people of Desa Adat Sogra, who are your idGuides GBT Community Trail Guides.
A main purpose for including this stage into the Great Bali Trail is to directly support Sogra’s community foresters for their stewardship of Sebudi Community Forest through trail ecotourism. Thus, by simply hiking this stage, you are compensating local community foresters for their ecosystem services with the IDR 200,000 per person GBT Trail Pass impact allocation which pays for the Hutan Desa Sebudi “payment for ecosystems services” fee.
Ideal for:
- medium-experienced hikers & trail runners
- those seeking more remote & wild treks with stunning views
- ideal traverse hike to do en route* to stay in Amed/Candidasa/Sidemen.
This booking requires 2 days / 48 hrs advance booking time.
* If you have a driver, then this hike is ideal to plan to do on your journey to Bali’s eastern destinations, such as Sidemen, Candidasa, Virgin Beach or Amed/Tulamben. This way, you maximise your Bali travel day, and break up the long car journey with a superb day on foot.
You can start your hike in Sebudi at 8am, and our Field Coordinator will escort your driver to your Trek finish point in Sibetan. You’ll be picked up off-hike at 2-3pm, and continue on towards your destination for check-in.
