- Half Day Hikes
Great Bali Trail ~ Stage 14b
Batur Contour Hike: Toya B.-SonganAt a Glance
Highlights
A private half day hike exploring Kintamani’s volcanic landscape and highland livelihoods away from crowds, undertaking a contour trek around Batur, not up it, along Great Bali Trail Stage 14.
For those of you who want to explore the vast Kintamani Crater on foot, away from crowds, with a great mix of easy wide-open backroads and single-track with incredible views and every turn.
Ideal for:
- trail-fit beginner-intermediate hikers
- experienced hikers & trail runners
- those who want to explore Kintamani on foot, away from crowds.
This trail adventure requires 2 days / 48 hrs advance booking time.
To avoid crowds descending off Batur’s summit, we have programmed this half day hike to start relatively later in the day, at the 8-9am time slot. Kintamani’s elevation ranges 1000-1900m asl, allowing for all-day exploration in the relative cool to coastal Bali.
By 9am, we have the crater mostly to ourselves, with Kintamani’s local communities resuming their daily farming lives after the “normal” tourists have left Batur and departed Kintamani.
A Note about Great Bali Trail Stages 14 & 15, and our “Batur Kintamani Trails” private hike route collection:

- GBT 14a & GBT 14b divides stage 14 into two, 8km Half Day Hikes, contouring Batur.
