Mt. Agung Crater Rim Summit
Agung’s 1 Day Classic, ex-Sebudi (2866m)At a Glance
Highlights
The direct up & back route from Pura Pasar Agung temple Sebudi to Agung’s Crater Summit – the shortest in distance, but steepest, most challenging ascent trek route.
For those of you who seek a true challenge and enjoy bagging summits, Agung is a classic and never fails to inspire and exhilarate. As a one-day ascent, this volcano summit is not to be taken lightly. It is enjoyed optimally with forward planning, preparation, and Team idGuides Sebudi community mountain guides, our oldest community partnership since 2009.
Don’t be fooled from the beach-view. Agung’s weather conditions can be cold and windy at altitude above the tree-line (ca. 2300m asl). Ensure you are mountain-fit, rested, mentally-prepared and carry sufficient nutrition.
Agung’s exposed slopes and steep, well-trodden route require hiking footwear, a warm jacket & hat. idGuides supplies trek poles, recommended.
Ideal for:
- those who are trail & mountain-fit with suitable footwear
- experienced hikers & trail runners
- those who want a 1D Agung summit
This booking requires 3 days / 72 hrs advance booking time.
Trek start time is 0200am on the date of your booking. (eg Booking Date 28th Jan 2025, 0200am)
Why select idGuides & Great Bali Trail for your Agung ascent?
idGuides is an established expedition operator and outdoor leadership educator specialising in Indonesia. Since 2009, we have been developing trails, training community trail guides to enable us to design and lead responsible adventures on foot of Indonesian volcanos, landscapes and people.
Our Founder is a female British professional expedition leader and Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (FRGS) with 30 years’ experience delivering outdoor programs, and who remains active to oversee standards and operating proceedures, and available to guide judgement calls. Since our establishment, with our conservative approach to risk and direct training & relationship with our community guides teams, we maintain to date a 100% safety record, having delivered 35,000+ private treks & ascents to our clients of all nationalities, ages and abilities.
The Agung Sebudi Mountain Guides Association is one of our oldest Team idGuides community partnerships – Team idGuides Sebudi. idGuides has organised Agung ascents with Team idGuides Sebudi Agung guides since 2009, periodically providing training on site of its members. This is also why we have incorporated Agung and Team Sebudi into The Great Bali Trail.
Our long-standing partnership is why our Bookings & Base Support Coordinator books and coordinates all our Agung ascents (ex-Sebudi) directly with the Agung Sebudi Mountain Guides Association, the head of which is also Team idGuides’ Sebudi Agung Coordinator). Our partnership ensures that we receive trusted information “direct from source” about route conditions, weather, and advance notice of route closures for Balinese Hindu ceremonies.
idGuides Bookings & Base Support provides real-time support to our Team idGuides mountain teams and to you – to help you prep for your trek / ascent, during your ascent/trek, and ensures that your feedback is relayed to our Team idGuides community guides and integrated into our operating procedures and systems to continuously improve.
